What up, Oregon?? Only 6 days left of the year and what better way to bring in 2017 than with Hieroglyphics' own Pep Love? Check out his NYE show in Eugene along with Dj Nocturnal, The Architex, and DJ DV8!
Pep Love is an emcee and beat producer from California’s San Francisco Bay Area; Oakland to be precise. He made his debut appearance on Casual's Fear Itself album on the song titled “Who's It On.” Not long afterwards, Pep showcased his rapid fire, tongue-twisting, rhythmically precise word play on the B-Side of Del the Funky Homosapien's Wrong Place at the Wrong Time on a song entitled “Undisputed Champs” that also featured Native Tongues stalwart Q-Tip of a Tribe Called Quest. Since then, Pep has become an underground hip hop staple as a member of Hieroglyphics through his contributions on all three Hiero albums, including Third Eye Vision, Full Circle and The Kitchen.
Pep Love's first solo effort, Ascension, was released to much critical acclaim in the hip hop underworld on July of 2001 as one of the early releases on the Hieroglyphics Imperium imprint. He went on to release Ascension Side C, Rigmarole and Dolla Daily, as well as a cameo project entitled First Light - Fallacy Fantasy with his fellow Hieroglyphics crew member and Souls of Mischief group member Opio.
Pep could be considered somewhat of a conscious lyricist with an edge and a slight proclivity towards white wine, 60/40 spliffs and lit dance floors. Some of this activity can be seen at his local underground hip hop DJ event series called “Wax Poetic.” Some of this can also be heard on his two latest single releases “Prayful' Hate” and “Master Blaster.” The latest releases will be followed by his next EP, entitled Fly Philosophy, soon to be released on the Hieroglyphics Imperium label. Stay tuned and be sure to make your presence felt when Pep Love arrives with his DJ, lyrics, songs, banging' boom-bapish beats and vibe sauce at a music hall near you.
